    Which moisture cream should I choose?


    Do your moisture creams actually work?


    The moisture creams were made 30 years ago in response to eczema and very dry skin. Most moisture creams are made with 90% water and a small percentage of oil. The water evaporates when it hits the skin leaving nothing to coat the skin and trap the moisture in. Our creams are super rich in beeswax which clings to the skin – keeping it moisturised and comfortable for up to 24 hours.

    Why are the moisture creams so expensive?


    The moisture creams are not expensive considering a 120ml jar lasts approximately 6 months if used twice daily. We only use the highest-grade ingredients to create a quality product so you are paying for a quality product. Our creams are water-in-oil emulsion. The total (expensive) plant oil content is much higher than the (free) water content.

    Water is the first ingredient listed in your moisture creams. Why should I be paying for water?


    We use water in our moisture creams to create an emulsion with the oils we use. This delicate emulsion balance creates a rich cream that nourishes your skin. The water also helps with the cream’s spreadability on your skin but evaporates leaving a rich layer of fine oils and waxes.

    Are your moisture creams very rich?


    Our moisture creams are made with high quality oils and beeswax which creates a moisturising film on the skin to slow down TEML (trans epidermal moisture loss). This keeps the skin feeling moisturised for longer. You only need to use very little of our creams to feel the difference on your skin.

    Why are your creams so thick compared to others?


    Our creams are water-in-oil emulsion. The total plant oil content is much higher than the water content. This produces a thicker, very moisturising & protective cream.

    Will the moisture creams clog my pores?


    They shouldn’t clog your pores. We use beeswax that is a natural substance. We don’t use petroleum jelly (fossil fuel) that can block pores.

    Do I need different moisture creams for day & night, summer & winter?


    This is a personal preference. Some customers like to use different creams depending on how dry their skin is, using a heavier cream at night and in winter.

    Can I wear makeup over the moisture creams?


    Yes. It is recommended to wait for 5-10 minutes for the cream to be absorbed before you apply makeup.

    Are your moisture creams better than other creams?


    Definitely yes! Hundreds of customers review our moisture creams on the website and Google reviews. The main reasons why our creams are better than others is because:

    *we use a lot of plant oils and butters, unlike commercial creams that are water-based

    Are the moisture creams just for the face?


    No, you can use them on the face, hands and all over the body.

    Do you have a face moisture cream for mature skin?


    All 3 of our moisture creams are suitable for mature skin. The Honey and Olive moisture cream is best suited for cold dry weather. It’s best to apply the moisture cream on damp skin – a little goes a long way.

    What's the best way to use the moisture creams?


    After a shower or after you wash your face, towel dry, immediately apply a bit of cream on damp skin. The cream will spread easily and it will not be sticky. Spend one minute or so to massage the cream into the skin. If it feels dry in some areas, you can apply more cream in those areas. If you wear makeup, wait for 5-10 minutes for the cream to be absorbed before you apply makeup.

    Will the moisture creams help with eczema/psoriasis/contact dermatitis?


    Our products are not medicated. However, many customers reported that our creams successfully help to soothe and manage skin conditions.

    Do I need to keep the moisture cream in the fridge?


    It’s best to keep them in the fridge, especially if you live in a hot, humid climate, or if it takes you a long time to finish the jar. If they aren’t refrigerated, the shelf life may be shortened.

    Why do I need to use a spoon/spatula with the moisture cream?


    Our hands carry a lot of germs. If you keep dipping your fingers in the jar, it may shorten the shelf life as the creams do not contain artificial preservatives.

    Why do the moisture creams have a best before date?


    We use “best before” date, not “expiry” date. It means the products is best to be used before the date. It doesn’t mean that it expires on that date.

    My moisture cream is past its best before date, can I still use it?


    If your cream is stored properly, you may still be able to use it following these steps:

    • Check visually that the cream is OK (no mould or other growth)
    • If it’s OK, then smell it to make sure it’s still fresh and hasn’t turned rancid
    • If it’s OK, patch test on the inside of elbow or wrist
    • If it’s OK, you can then use it


    Are the moisture creams scented?


    No, the subtle aroma is of Leatherwood honey & beeswax. We add healing calendula flower extract in our creams, but calendula doesn’t have much aroma.

    Why do the moisture creams contain borax?


    Borax is added in our moisture creams to help inhibit the growth of microbacteria. Borax is a natural mineral, allowed to be added up to 5%. We add borax at less than 1%, far below the limit.

    Do the moisture creams have sunscreen in them?


    No, we don’t add sunscreen to any of our product. We suggest you wear a wide-brimmed hat & a long-sleeved top.

    Do you make bee venom moisture cream?


    No. We use leatherwood honey & leatherwood beeswax, but we don’t use bee venom. Bee venom is harvested by electrocuting the bees. While many producers claim the bees aren’t harmed by electrocution, we much prefer to use honey & beeswax.     Apply sparingly on damp skin.

    Massage in thoroughly and leave for five minutes to absorb.

    The beauty with our Moisture Creams is that they are easy to personalise to suit your unique requirements. Follow the simple steps below to CUSTOMISE and APPLY your Beauty and the Bees moisture cream. Naturally you can use the products neat if you wish but because our products are super rich we suggest that you dilute the moisture cream, initially at least, to give you time to discover what works best for your skin. *

     

    CUSTOMISE

    1. bb1Remove a small amount (about half the size of a five cent coin is plenty) of Moisture Cream from the jar using the spatula provided and place the cream into the palm of your hand.
    1. bb2Spray a small amount of Rosewater Flowerpetal Toning Mist, or add a few drops of water into the cream on your hand. Work the Rosewater Flowerpetal Toning Mist or water into the cream until you have customised the texture to suit your individual needs. For example, you may prefer a lighter lotion in summer or a richer mix to deeply moisturise in winter.
    1. bb3To turbo boost the moisture in your cream, add 2 drops of Liquid Velvet Olive Moisture Boost Serum and mix in well before applying.

    APPLY

    1. bb4Always apply your Moisture Cream to damp skin to seal in the moisture. If you haven’t just washed or cleansed your face, you can lightly moisten the skin with the Rosewater Flowerpetal Toning Mist or some warm water.

     

     

     

    1. bb5Smooth your customised moisture cream onto the face and neck in an upwards direction, massaging in a firm circular motion with the fingertips to improve blood flow to the skin and to distribute the cream evenly. Avoid the eye area until the end because the skin is more delicate and requires a softer touch. Pat the moisture cream in gently around the eye area without stretching the skin, or try our Liquid Velvet Olive Moisture Boost Serum if preferred at night. Let the cream sit on the face for 5 – 10 minutes before applying make-up.

     

     

    *Important: We would recommend a small patch test of the product behind one ear to ensure compatibility before use. If a reaction occurs, please discontinue use. If in doubt about your reaction to scented products due to ‘sensitivities’ please choose an unscented product. For eczema/psoriasis sufferers we recommend the Sensitive Skin range of products.
