At Beauty and the bees we understand sensitive skin.
All our products are wholly handmade (we make everything from scratch…no bought in re-labeled generic ‘base creams’) and guaranteed free from petrochemical mineral oil, synthetic chemicals, colours, synthetic fragrances, and irritant preservatives experience age-old formulae rich with moisturising honey and pure plant oils that have been tried and tested for generations in every culture.
What makes our creams unique – and unlike any that you have used before?
First an explanation as to why you have to keep repeatedly applying that expensive, fluffy, exotic, pink cream with a French/Natural name from the chemist/beautician/’natural’ product range… 99.9% of moisture creams commercially made are oil-in-water emulsions stabilised with a cocktail of chemical emulsifiers and preservatives.
These water based creams initially feel light and fresh on application but evaporate rapidly as they contain a small amount of (usually) petrochemical mineral oil in a lot of (free!) water and chemical emulsifiers. These not only emulsify and absorb the natural protective fats from the skin surface… As they evaporate they leave no trace of protective oils, hence actively promoting and creating drier and drier skin.
Not surprisingly, after using these products for up to 12 years, women in their mid thirties find that their skin is in a chronically dehydrated condition.
Or women with oily skin find that as they use these light creams – usually in conjunction with a strong, degreasing, chemicalised ‘face wash/cleanser’ – their problems get worse and worse as their skin produces more and more oil in response to this harsh treatment.
If you use their products mainstream manufacturers love you because you use gallons of product that often costs less than 8 cents ($US) to make – giving them huge profits.
We do exactly the opposite.
Beauty and the Bees creams are water-in-oil emulsions. They contain richly nourishing (expensive!) plant oils and a small amount of water.
Especially formulated to effectively protect, relieve and soothe, these uniquely rich creams are as they come from nature and reflect the ingredients with which they are carefully handmade. Cream or ivory coloured, with the nutty delicate aroma of real, vitamin-laden nut oils, the colour and texture can vary as the seasons change. These penetrate the skin’s top layer, leaving a long-lasting protective film, trapping vital moisture in the skin so it can’t evaporate.
Intensely emollient, protective and balancing our creams are equally suitable for sensitive dry skin (protecting and nourishing), oily skin (balancing sebum production) and normal skin – which just needs to stay that way!
The secret of our unique ultra-rich concentrated, very economical creams is that they slowly absorb, thereby offering long lasting moisture protection – in most cases for 12 hours. This means that you need to use very little indeed which makes our creams a very economical buy as they last so long.
Even better, our creams can be customised to your needs by adding a little water – in the hand, not the jar – to make a light lotion in the summer, rich in the winter when drier.
Beauty and the Bees Creams need to be applied in the following way for maximum absorption, sealing in moisture for best results:
- After cleansing your skin in your preferred way, spray the skin with a Flowerpetal toning mist/Hydrosol.
- Allow to dry very slightly, and massage in a small amount of the cream using a circular upward motion to avoid dragging the skin. Spend a few moments doing this as massage will promote better blood circulation to the skin, in turn improving skin health, appearance and texture.
- Leave the cream to absorb naturally which takes a few moments.
- Spray again lightly to refresh and cool.
Important product information: Beauty and the bees Protective moisture creams are truly organic and contain no chemicals or artificial preservatives. So they require a few special care techniques to maintain their high quality and extend shelf life.
Whilst we use amber glass packaging to inhibit light damage to the vitamin rich contents, we suggest that in addition:
- jars should be stored in a refrigerator or in a very cool place
- best used within 6 months of opening for maximum benefit and freshness (if refrigerated may last up to 1 year )
- use the spatula provided to avoid contamination of the cream
- use creams daily to maximise benefit whilst bio-active and fresh
